About Us
Darcy and Polly Shuttlewood purchased the original cane farm adjacent to the old Eimeo Road in 1939. On the death of their father in 1942, Norm Shuttlewood took over running the farm with his younger brother Teddy. Later, youngest brother Clive joined them on the farm and the brothers expanded, purchasing an adjacent farm. Decades later, the current Mackay Bucasia road linking the city with the Northern Beaches was carved right through the original property. The family subsequently developed Golf Link Heights on the western side of that new road. Norm together with his wife Joyce remained on the farm for over 60 years. They were both actively involved in what was then a very small community drawn from families living at Eimeo, Bucasia, Shoal Point, Blacks Beach, and the cane farms extending from the beaches back to the Shuttlewood property. Kerrisdale Estate is currently run and managed by the 7 children of Joyce and Norm Shuttlewood.
Focal Park
Kerrisdale residents enjoy the amenity of over 50 hectares of open space stretching along the entire eastern frontage. This land will never be developed. Walking tracks around the wetland area are popular for an evening stroll, walking the dog, or finding vantage points to observe the diversity of bird life.
Playground
The playground in the 4,000 square meter extensively landscaped Norm Shuttlewood Park is well patronized and families young and old enjoy the gas barbecue facilities in the park.
Spoilt for Convenience
Northern Beaches Central is less than 2 km away or just 4 km from Mt Pleasant. Bunnings and the Home Centre is so handy and just 15 minutes to the Mackay CBD. There are 11 schools within 5 km.
The best beaches in Mackay are only a short ten-minute drive away.
Carefully designed streets branch off the main Norwood Parade creating privacy and minimizing through traffic. As a community, Kerrisdale will always have an abundance of lifestyle amenities that can never be overbuilt – focal parks, Riparian strips, thoughtfully designed wetlands, playgrounds, sporting fields, and bike trails are some of the key lifestyle features in place or planned for future stages.
