Living at Mackay Harbour

The Mackay Harbour officially opened August 1939 and has been designed to accomodate the six metres tides found in this part of Queensland. As you enter the Mackay Harbour you are greeted by a large roundabout which directs you three ways.

If you turn right you’ll head towards the Mackay Surf Club and a new estate. If you turn left you come across the Mantra Hotel and the public boat ramp which lies adjacent to the dining precinct.

And lastly, if you go straight ahead at the roundabout you’ll drive onto the dual lane breakwater road, which is 1.8km each way. Many local residents walk their dogs, take a run, or ride their bikes along the breakwater road.
